Official Statements From The Chairperson

Official Statement - August 2019

Welcome to the Durham Democratic Community!

The Durham Democratic Town Committee (DDTC) would like to take this opportunity to reach out to past, present, and particularly, new members of our party to inform you of the goals the DDTC has established for 2019:

  1. To fill local board and commission seats with qualified and enthusiastic Democrats. This will strengthen our party’s presence, purpose, and profile in our community and protect the interests of all our residents.

  2. To develop new strategies and plan exciting and informative events for the entire community. Outreach is one of the DDTC’s most important and fundamental purposes.

  3. To spread a message of hope, for the future of our town, state, and country by assuming a positive position on the issues and encouraging the dissemination of accurate information from reliable resources.

  4. To maintain and continue to improve our contact with the community by way of our social media platforms and one-on-one outreach with Democrats, specifically, and the community at large.

Here’s how you can get involved:

  1. Attend regular meetings of the DDTC and make your voice heard. All are welcome. No contribution is too small.

  2. Consider taking on a position on a local board or committee. Board and commission positions are not unusually time consuming and  Durham needs your input! You can find all the info you need on our here on our website or our Facebook page.

  3. Join us at upcoming DDTC events. We are planning new and exciting fundraisers and awareness events. Stop in and bring a friend!

  4. Visit our new website, Facebook page, and Twitter feed as often as you can. Share our postings on your social media. If everyone committed to doing this even once per week it would go far in spreading our message of inclusion, action, and hope.

And finally, always exercise your right to VOTE!

We wish you all the best in 2019 and hope that you will join us in our efforts to represent and defend the best in our town, state, and national communities.

In response to the Women's March on Saturday January 21, 2017

To all of you wonderful Democrats,

I want to say that your attendance at these events must have been a life changing and invigorating experience. To those points I hope we can build on this excitement and continue to work through our Durham Democratic Town Committee to keep this need for change and opposition to "he who shall not be named" policies and appointments.

Our work at a local level is very important.  If you are not a member of the DDTC please think of joining or let me know how you want to help us. All help is good help!

Thank you,
